About us

Our mission is to deliver the highest quality behavioral health services that are guided by science and anchored in traditional Lakota culture, philosophy, and worldview to maximize mental health and social well-being and eliminate alcohol, commercial tobacco, and other drug abuse on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

• Increase the reliability, quality, and access to  behavioral health services.

• Reduction of at-risk behaviors that lead to problems related to physical health, socio-emotional wellbeing, and crime and criminal recidivism.  

• Development and placement of culturally relevant public health education.  

• Promotion of behavioral health protective factors and cultural-based interventions.  

• Elevation of behavioral health services through the promotion of evidence-based practice synchronized with cultural-based approach.  

• Improve the quality and translation of tribally specific epidemiological data for youth and adults.  

• Building systems of support for individuals interacting with OST Criminal Justice System and Child Protective Services.  

• Building systems of support for individuals re-entering the community after successful completion of behavioral health treatment services.  

• Unification and streamlining of the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s behavioral health services.  

• Promotion of systems and environmental change that support individual, family, and community wellness.
